Yes — but only if it has been verified. AI can draft a full question paper in seconds, and that speed is genuinely useful. The catch is that a rawdraft can also contain a wrong answer key, an option that is defensibly also correct, or a “numerical” that doesn't actually resolve. The drafting is the easy part. The verification is the part that decides whether the paper is safe to put in front of a student.

Where AI drafts actually go wrong

The risk lives in the unchecked draft

In our experience the failure modes are consistent, and none of them are about the AI being “bad at physics” — they are about nobody checking the output:

  • Wrong answer key: the question is fine, but the marked correct option is not the one the working leads to.
  • Multiple correct options: a single-correct MCQ where two options are both defensible — a guaranteed grievance in a real test.
  • Unanswerable or under-specified stems: a value the student needs is missing, so no option is reachable.
  • Answer leaked into a figure: a diagram that accidentally encodes the very thing the student is asked to find.

The single check that catches most errors

If you take away one thing: independent re-solving beats proofreading.Reading a question and its answer top-to-bottom trains your eye to agree with what's written. Solving it cold — without looking at the marked answer — and then comparing forces a genuine second opinion. When two independent solvers disagree, you have found either a wrong key or an ambiguous question. That disagreement is the signal.

What verification looks like when it's done properly

A trustworthy pipeline treats the AI draft as a first draft, never as a finished paper. Concretely, that means:

  • Independent re-solve: each question is solved again from scratch by separate checkers that never see the draft's own answer.
  • Consensus, not a single vote: the draft answer, and two independent solves, have to agree. When they don't, the answer isn't silently “corrected” and shipped — the question is flagged.
  • Faculty has the final say: anything disputed goes to a subject teacher before it can appear on a paper. AI drafts; the teacher approves.
  • Honest states: a question is machine-verified, disputed, or simply unverified because a check failed to run — and the last two never reach a student unreviewed.

An AI draft is only as reliable as the verification behind it. A raw, unchecked draft can contain wrong answer keys or flawed options.
